I went to see Dr. Maguire (hand surgeon) because I had a painful affliction called trigger thumb in *both thumbs. The first attempt at treatment was a prescription for methylprednisolone tablets (a steroid that relieves swelling). That treatment had no effect, so then Dr. Maguire injected me with Triamcinolone (another anti-inflammatory steroid, but more powerful) at the base of both of my thumbs. This started working after about a week and provided much needed relief to both of my thumbs. I was extremely thankful since the next step was surgery. Dr. Maguire is knowledgeable and has a pleasant bedside manner, and his office workers are very nice and flexible with appointment times, etc.
