Feb. 28th Community Conversation Explores Art and Mental Health

February 21, 2023

Join this FREE community conversation during Black History Month “Exploring Mental Health and Art as Healing” addressing the intersections of mental health and art, the ability for art to serve as a channel for healing.

This interactive panel discussion will particularly elevate experiences by members of the Black community and ways that art has been engaged to respond to life experiences and facilitate health.

Speakers include psychiatrist and researcher Javeed Sukhera, MD, PhD, Chief of Psychiatry at the HHC Institute of Living, and experiential educator and community leader Kamora Herrington, founder of Kamora’s Cultural Corner.

A live question and answer session with the speakers will follow their moderated discussion. Refreshments will be served.

This session is held in honor of Black History Month and is hosted in collaboration with Hartford HealthCare and the Amistad Center for Art and Culture.
