Hartford HealthCare Begins Drive-Through Testing for COVID-19
March 16, 2020
With the COVID-19 pandemic quickly evolving and an increase in cases in Connecticut, Hartford HealthCare is opening drive-through testing centers at several locations throughout the state allowing patients with symptoms and possible exposure to be tested without leaving their vehicles.
The first testing center opened March 16 at 560 Hudson Street at Hartford Hospital. Testing sites in Bridgeport, Meriden, Norwich, and Torrington will open later this week.
To be tested, patients must have a referral through the Hartford HealthCare Clinical Command Center at 860.972.8100 or, toll-free, 833.621.0600.
The test, which takes less than five minutes, is administered by a physician, advanced practice provider or nurse outfitted in protective clothing, including a gown, goggles, mask and gloves. Patients drive up to the testing site where the clinician swabs the patient’s nose and throat collecting a sample that will be sent for evaluation. After testing, patients are given follow-up instructions and information about self-isolation.
Patients will receive their results through MyChart or by phone within four days.
Testing will be offered through referral only at the following locations:
